What to do if something goes wrong during the pet-sitting?, Guardiens

Most pet-sitting experiences go smoothly. But unforeseen events can happen, and knowing how to react before they occur will prevent you from making poor decisions under stress.

    Your pet is sick

    What your guardian should do:

Inform you as soon as symptoms become significant, call your usual veterinarian, and in case of a life-threatening emergency, act first.

    What you should have prepared:

The signed authorization for veterinary care in the house guide. Without it, your guardian cannot make medical decisions on your behalf. It's a 2-minute formality that can save a situation.

    What you should do:

Remain reachable. If you are abroad, ensure your number works or leave a secondary contact. A guardian who cannot reach you in an emergency is left alone to make the decision.

There is a technical issue in the house

Your guardian calls you: boiler breakdown, water leak, power outage.

    What you should have prepared:

The contact numbers of trusted tradespeople in the house guide. Plumber, heating engineer, electrician. A guardian who has no contacts will randomly search for someone, which is not necessarily the best option.

    What you should do:

Authorize the guardian to make routine troubleshooting decisions without asking for your approval for every action. Set a threshold: "call me if it's more than X€ or if it's a structural intervention."

Your guardian can no longer provide pet-sitting services

Sudden illness, family emergency, your guardian has to leave before the end of the booking.

    What Guardiens provides:

The Emergency Guardians network. Your guardian can trigger an alert from the application. An Emergency Guardian available in your area can take over within 15 minutes.

    What you should do:

Remain reachable and quickly approve the new guardian proposed. The quicker you respond, the less time your pets are left alone.

You are not satisfied with the pet-sitting

House poorly maintained, pets not well cared for, non-existent communication.

    What you can do:

Contact your guardian directly and share your observations. In most cases, it's a misunderstanding or lack of information that can be resolved through a conversation.

    If the problem persists:

Contact the Guardiens team via the contact form. And most importantly: leave an honest review after the pet-sitting. Not to punish, but to inform other homeowners. This is what ensures the quality of the community.
