The person on the profile is indeed the person who will be coming to your home. Not a fictitious account, not stolen identity.
What this does not guarantee:
Identity verification confirms who the person is, not the quality of their house-sitting. That's why it's only one of the trust mechanisms, not the only one.
Cross-reviews
After each house-sitting assignment on Guardiens, both parties evaluate each other. The owner evaluates the guardian. The guardian evaluates the owner. Both reviews are public.
Why this is important:
A guardian with 12 detailed positive reviews represents 12 owners who trusted them and had a good house-sitting experience. This is real social proof, not self-assigned stars.
Simultaneous publication:
Reviews are published at the same time, after both parties have submitted theirs, or after 14 days if only one party has submitted. Nobody can influence the other's review by publishing first.

The Emergency Guardians network
For unforeseen circumstances during house-sitting, Guardiens has a network of Emergency Guardians available within 15 minutes in each area.
Conditions for status:
5 house-sitting assignments completed on Guardiens, rating >= 4.7/5, zero cancellations, verified identity, active subscription.
How it works:
If your primary guardian has an unforeseen event, or if an emergency arises during the house-sitting, the emergency network is activated. The guardian on duty triggers the alert from the application. You receive an immediate notification.
In-person meeting before house-sitting
Guardiens recommends an in-person meeting before each house-sitting assignment. It is not mandatory, but highly recommended.
Why: trust is not built online. It is built face-to-face, over coffee or a walk. You see how the guardian interacts with your pet. Your pet approves the person in your presence. You leave with certainty, not an assumption.

What happens if the guardian cancels at the last minute?
Guardiens activates the emergency network to offer you an available and qualified replacement guardian. Unjustified late cancellations negatively impact the guardian's reputation score and can lead to the loss of Super Guardian status. You are notified immediately and retain control over the final decision.
Are my valuables protected during house-sitting?
The guardian is obligated, under Article 1875 of the Civil Code (loan for use), to use the accommodation "with the care of a good householder." For high-value items (jewelry, artwork, identity documents), we advise you to store them in a safe or entrust them to a trusted person. Your home insurance generally covers theft and damage.
How do I report inappropriate guardian behavior?
Use the "Report" button available on the profile and in the conversation. Our moderation team reviews each report within 48 hours and takes appropriate measures (warning, suspension, exclusion). In case of emergency or danger, contact the competent authorities (911 or 112).
Can I block a guardian I no longer wish to see?
Yes, blocking is bidirectional and instantaneous. Once blocked, the guardian can no longer contact you, see your listings, or apply for your house-sitting assignments. This block is permanent unless you manually unblock them. No notification is sent to the blocked person.
