Create a Guardian profile that attracts assignments

On Guardiens, owners receive multiple applications for each listing. They choose in 90 seconds.
Your profile is your only chance to convince them before even sending a message.
Here's what makes a difference, and what sinks an application before it even gets started.
The photo: the first filter
No photo = no assignment. It's harsh but it's the reality. An owner entrusting their keys needs to see a face.
What works:
- Clear portrait, neutral or outdoor background
- Natural, unforced expression
- Alone or with an animal, if you have one, show it. It's the strongest signal you can send.
What doesn't work:
- Blurry holiday photo from 3 meters away
- Group photo where it's unclear who you are
- Photo without a face (landscape, avatar)
The bio: tell something concrete
Most guardian bios say the same thing: "I love animals, I am serious and responsible." That's what everyone says. It convinces no one.
What convinces: a concrete situation.
Examples that work:
- "I work remotely 4 days out of 5 from my apartment in Caluire, your dog will never be alone for more than 3 hours."
- "I grew up with two Australian Shepherds and a cat. I know what it takes daily."
- "Active retiree, I am available Monday to Friday with no time constraints."
The rule: one sentence about your situation, one sentence about what it offers the owner. No more than 150 words.
Vous êtes propriétaire d'animaux ou vous aimez les animaux ?
Animal experience: be precise
"I love animals" says nothing. "I looked after 3 cats and a Golden Retriever for friends in Lyon for 2 weeks last summer" says something.
List everything:
- Animals you had as a child
- Informal pet-sitting for friends or family
- Professional experiences related to animals
- Training (animal first aid, dog training)
If you are completely new: say so honestly, but compensate with your situation (remote work, retirement, availability) and your seriousness. Owners accept beginners if the profile otherwise inspires confidence.
Bonus skills: what owners are looking for
On Guardiens, you can add bonus skills to your profile. Use them, they filter listings that match you.
The most requested skills near you:
- Gardening: essential for homes with a vegetable garden or garden to maintain
- DIY: reassuring for owners of secondary residences
- Animal first aid: a strong differentiator
- Driver's license: essential in rural areas or for emergency veterinary visits
Identity verification: do it before applying
Unverified profiles appear after verified profiles in the search results. Many owners filter directly on "ID verified."
Verification takes 5 minutes. The validation period is less than 24 hours. There's no reason to apply without having done it.
The "I am available" mode
Activate it on your dashboard when you are available for pet-sitting jobs. Owners looking for an urgent guardian filter by this status.
It's zero effort to potentially receive direct requests.
